Logical and physical addresses
Separate the addresses a program uses from the ones the hardware sees, and protect processes with base and limit. About 12 minutes.
A process has base 5000 and limit 2000. The program uses logical address 2500. What happens?
- AThe MMU traps, because 2500 is not less than the limit of 2000
- BThe access goes to physical address 7500
- CThe address wraps around inside the process's region
Show the answer
The MMU traps, because 2500 is not less than the limit of 2000. The limit check fails before any address is formed.
